From social design to street art, mosaic works in recycled plastic.
The idea
The idea is rather simple. The material to produce individual mosaic tiles comes from crushing common PET bottles. We don’t cut bottles – by simply using hot air and pressure we modify their shape to obtain a perfect cube, that is a tile.
The variety of bottles on the market allows us to have lot of colours, shades, transparencies to obtain a wide reference palette. Such material is just perfect for a creative project!
It is particularly interesting the reference to pixel images which match – by size and colour – every single piece of the mosaic to each individual pixel. This method of transposition allows us to create large works and murals. So as you go further away, the image becomes more and more readable.
For years we have been trying to attract as many people as possible to our craft, that is why we believe that combining this ancient art with such an up-to-date element can have a great result!
Social involvement
We need about 900 bottles to create 1 sqm of mosaic!
Social involvement for the collection of bottles becomes a fundamental step in our project: all citizens can play an active role in it for the collection of bottles.
They can also be helpful for the spreading of the art work through the social media, to promote its originality such as the vision of the project.
